BalanceSCC partners with school districts throughout Santa Cruz County to provide trained 1:1 instructional aides who support students with unique needs in educational settings.
Our goal is simple: help students access their education, achieve their IEP goals, and build the skills needed for greater independence.
We serve students ages 3–22, including:
Preschool programs
Elementary schools
Middle and high schools
Post-secondary and transition programs
Support is individualized based on each student’s IEP and educational goals.
1:1 academic and classroom support
Behavioral and emotional regulation support
Assistance with routines and transitions
Social skills facilitation
Data collection and collaboration with school teams
Some of our trained aides also serve in health-support roles for students with more complex medical or physical needs. Depending on district assignment and training, support may include:
Assistance with mobility and wheelchair support
Monitoring and support for students with seizure disorders
Assistance for students who are visually impaired or blind
Support for students who require feeding assistance, including g-tube support (as directed and permitted by district guidelines)
Personal care assistance aligned with school protocols
Student-centered and strengths-based
